   The ISPP2017 Scientific Program Committee welcomes late-breaking abstracts reporting latest research findings and clinical innovations
   for poster presentation at the 11th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain.  All abstracts should be submitted through the online
   system before March 15th 2017.

The 11th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the biennial conference of the Special Interest Group on Pain in Childhood, International Association for the Study of Pain. It will create a forum for interdisciplinary participation and exchange in the areas of scientific discovery, knowledge translation, and advocacy regarding pediatric pain.

The IASP-SIG Pain in Childhood does not provide any remuneration for accepted Workshops or Poster abstracts. Each author who submits an abstract that is accepted is required to register for the conference.

  • The submitting author will receive notification by email indicating receipt of submission(s).
  • The submitting author will receive notification of acceptance once reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee.
  • Do not use proprietary drug names when referring to pharmacological substances. Only generic names of drugs are acceptable.
  • Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations, in parentheses, after the full word appears the first time.
  • Submissions may NOT describe a work-in-progress; they must describe final results and be in final format when submitting.
  • Abstracts that do not conform to the prescribed structure will be rejected.
  • English is the official language of the Congress.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facility) or by a copy editor, prior to submission.
     

1. Workshop Proposals (Deadline: August 31, 2016)

Workshop organizers are encouraged to seek a range of speakers, including varied backgrounds and expertise. Proposals demonstrating a diverse panel will be given priority consideration. Each presenter may be involved in at most three workshops.

Two types of workshops will be organized: regular workshops and rapid workshops.

Regular workshops are 90 minutes long. Typically, a workshop will have up to 3 speakers, one of whom may be the Organizer / Chairperson. The Chairperson will introduce the session and speakers and actively support an audience-based participation/discussion. Regular workshops are to be interactive and should provide an update of the subject matter, including current controversies, via short presentations (20 – 23 minutes) and a floor discussion/question period of minimum 20 minutes.

Rapid workshops are 45 minutes long, and consist of at most 3 short presentations of 10 minutes each. Fifteen minutes should be reserved for questions/discussion (either in 5 min. slots after each talk or a 15 min. period at the end).

The workshop organizer will be asked to indicate whether they wish to be considered for a regular workshop, a rapid workshop, or both. The final decision on rapid versus regular will be made by the Scientific Program Committee.
 

Workshop proposals must include the following information:
  • Proposed title of the workshop session – limited to 25 words in UPPER CASE
  • A general topic selected from ISPP2017 list of topics
  • Educational Objectives of session: 3-5 statements completing this sentence: "Upon completion of this session, attendees will..."
  • A brief description of the workshop session – 300 word limit
  • Indication of the primary intended audience
  • Details of proposed session organizer, chair, and speakers, including for each person:
  1. Name, Professional information (highest degree, title, discipline, institution name),
  2. Contact information (complete mailing address, telephone number, fax number if available, email address)
  • Proposed title of each speaker's presentation (limited to 25 words)
  • Abstract of each speaker's presentation – 200 word limit (if applicable, abstracts should include an acknowledgement section, listing grant support including grant number, and disclosure of any financial relationship the author(s) may have with the manufacturer supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work reported in the abstract)

 

2. Research Poster Abstracts (Deadline: January 31, 2017)

Research Poster abstracts must describe original scientific material. An abstract that has been previously presented at any national or international meeting, or published as a result of such a meeting, is not eligible for presentation at the 11th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain. An individual may be first author and may present more than one poster at the meeting, so long as he or she is a listed author/presenter for each poster. Tables or illustrations may not be included in abstracts, but may appear on the poster if accepted for presentation.

Research Poster abstract submissions must include the following information:
  • Abstract title – limited to 25 words in UPPER CASE
  • A general topic selected from ISPP2017 list of topics
  • Presenting author's and co-authors’ names and contact details (full name, affiliation details: department, institution/hospital, position, city, state (if relevant), country, email address,
full postal address, telephone and fax numbers)
  • Abstract text (maximum 300 words, including acknowledgements)
Abstracts must be organized into the following sections:
  • Presenting author's and co-authors’ names and contact details (full name, affiliation details: department, institution/hospital, position, city, state (if relevant), country, email address, full postal address, telephone and fax numbers)
  • Background and aims
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
  • Relevant citations (not mandatory; maximum 3)
  • Acknowledgments/Disclosures (If applicable, abstracts should include an acknowledgement section, listing grant support including grant number, and disclosure of any financial relationship the author(s) may have with the manufacturer supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work reported in the abstract)

The poster submitter will be asked to indicate if s/he is eligible for the Student Poster Award and wants to be considered for that award. Eligible are full-time trainees, less than 40 years of age, in any discipline, registered and studying in recognized university degree programs, internships, residencies, or fellowships.

 

3. Clinical Innovation Poster Abstracts (Deadline: January 31, 2017)

Clinical Innovation abstract submissions describe new initiatives and/or achievements in pain treatment. These could include presentations of complex cases, new clinical services, program evaluations, or other innovations in delivering pain care. Each abstract (maximum 300 words, excluding authors) should succinctly describe the innovation. An abstract that has been previously presented at any national or international meeting, or published as a result of such a meeting, is not eligible for presentation at the 11th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain. An individual may be first author and may present more than one poster at the meeting, so long as he or she is a listed author/presenter for each poster. Tables or illustrations may not be included in abstracts, but may appear on the poster if accepted for presentation.

Clinical Innovation abstract submissions must include the following information:
  • Abstract title – limited to 25 words in UPPER CASE
  • A general topic selected from ISPP2017 list of topics
  • Presenting author's and co-authors’ contact details (full name, affiliation details: department, institution/hospital, position, city, state (if relevant), country, email address,
full postal address, telephone and fax numbers)
  • Abstract text (max 300 words, including acknowledgements)
  • Acknowledgments/Disclosures (If applicable, abstracts should include an acknowledgement section, listing grant support including grant number, and disclosure of any financial relationship the author(s) may have with the manufacturer supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work reported in the abstract)
